Romantic Things To Do With Your Partner At Home in 2023

As a couple, we know how hard it is to think of romantic things to do with your partner at home. The typical date nights of dinner and drinks are not always possible and can get boring.

When the end of the month looms and money becomes tight, at-home date nights become more appealing. Or maybe you are fed up with sitting in restaurants or bars surrounded by loud groups of people; romantic date nights at home with your partner can be more up your street.

6 Romantic Things To Do With Your Partner At Home

As a couple, we find it hard sometimes to sit back and take some romantic time for ourselves away from the hustle and bustle of the world. However, spending quality time with your partner at home is needed to stay connected.

Below we have come up with some romantic things to do with your partner at home that is different to Netflix and chill. They are also budget-friendly, helping you save money for when you do go out on a date night or holiday with your partner. Check out the previous blog (20 things to do with your boyfriend when bored in 2022) to find more ideas!

#1 Play a Relationship Game

We love asking each other deep questions and trying to get to know each other on a deeper level. So take advantage of the free time you both have together to play a game that allows you to get to know each other better.

In the post-covid world, we know life can get hectic, and it is hard to spend quality romantic time with your significant over. Therefore, we think playing a relationship game is a romantic thing to do with your partner at home.

If you are looking for something that can create conversation on various topics, then the 'why don't we' game can help initiate that spark.

However, if you are looking for something more romantic and intimate, then the 'naughty or nice' card game. Test each other's limits in the comfort of your own home and see what topics get brought up!

#2 Set up a Home-Spa

We don't know about you, but Robyn loves anything self-care. Saying that Henry is partial to a face mask. This one is his favourite!

As far as romantic things to do with your partner at home, this is probably the most romantic of them all. As we know, spas can get expensive, so an at-home spa or spa night is a great alternative.

Pick up some candles, your favourite bath bombs and some face masks. Light the candles and put on your fancy bath ropes. You could even cut up some cucumber and play spa music to immerse yourself in the experience.

Run a bath and pop in your favourite bath bomb. Pick up your favourite snacks, Robyn's is usually anything chocolate-related, and Henry loves a Pepsi max!

This is an excellent alternative to the typical Netflix at-home evenings as it gives you a chance to connect with your partner deeply. Then, reignite that romantic spark by treating each other to a massage.

#3 Make a Scrapbook

A long-distance relationship can sometimes lead to weeks in-between seeing each other. Making a scrapbook can be a great way to remember each other during your time apart.

We really value having romantic things to do together when we are at home as we don't usually have quality time. So utilising that time to make a scrapbook to look at during time apart is a great idea.

Start by getting a scrapbook; we have linked a great one here. Decide how you want to layout your scrapbook; there are no rules to this. We like the idea of picking core memories or dates you have done together and dedicating a page to each.

This romantic activity also gives you time to reminisce on your unforgettable memories and bond over your special times. You can decorate with accessories cool stickers like these, or write notes (these pens make it look really cool on the black card!)

It is also great as you can continue to add things to the scrapbook as you do more things together, so you will always have something romantic to do with your partner at home.

#4 Cook a Meal

Now, we know this might sound really simple and done 100% times before. We have added a romantic twist to this idea to help spice up the relationship.

As you know, we love a Michelin Star restaurant, but being in a long-term relationship makes it easy to slip into the same old routine at home. I am assuming one person cooks and one cleans up, right? Why don't you date each other again and even try a little role play?

Cool a meal together as a romantic thing to do with your partner at home

Set aside an evening and a romantic night with your partner at home. Plan a menu and take it in turns for each course. One does the starter, the other the main and both make a dessert; why not indulge? It's date night!

The critical part of this is to dress up and impress your partner! If you want to be more romantic, push it further by introducing role play. For example, pretend you are on a first date and don't know each other.

We think this is a perfect romantic thing to do with your partner at home as it shakes up the regular dinner routine. You could even incorporate playing a relationship card game over dinner or after if you want some conversation starter.

#5 Listen to a Podcast Together

We both love a podcast! When Henry was training for his marathon from scratch, he used to love listening to a podcast.

Suppose you are like us and enjoy a good conversation about a hot topic. In that case, listening to podcasts together can be a great bonding experience. Learning about something new together and having a shared experience brings people closer together.

While it might not be a conventional romantic thing to do with your partner at home, it can be for some. Personally, we bond over sharing the same views on certain topics or learning about the other's opinion and their reasoning behind it.

Some of our favourite podcasts to listen to together are Diary of a CEO (below) and the All-In podcast. Both discuss controversial topics, engage in debates and interview some of the most interesting people, from Piers Morgan to Molly Mae Hauge.

We like to pause the podcast every 15 minutes or so to discuss what we thought about certain points. We believe this is romantic as you are really delving into understanding each other's minds and thought processes, making it one of the best romantic things to do at home.

It is also great for testing if you are compatible as it can get you to discuss topics you might not have touched on before and find out things you might not like!

#6 Make a Bucket List

We know as a couple that it can be tough to balance socialising, going out together and having a chill time. We find that being long-distance, we can sometimes neglect just taking a second to breathe and spend some downtime together.

While it is incredible to have lots of plans with families and friends, time can run away from you, and you lose track of things you want to do as a couple.

Creating a bucket list you can check in with a few times a year is a great way to keep track of the goals and aspirations as a couple.

Other Romantic Things To Do With Your Partner At Home

There is no better romantic thing to do with your partner at home when you have spare time than to set out your dreams and desires! Start by brainstorming all your creative ideas on a piece of paper.

Once you have this, you can categorise it into subjects such as travel, career, family, etc.; whatever seems to fit best. Next, assign timelines against them so you can hold each other accountable. Finally, use this notebook to keep track of your thoughts!

This is a great way to bond and create intimacy as you start thinking of all the exciting and romantic things you can do in the coming years.

The above are just some of the things you could consider doing while looking for romantic things to do with your partner at home. Below we have added a list of other things to do that you may also want to consider:

  • Game night - whether it be a board game or you sit back and play video games, you can never be short of home date night ideas in this niche.

  • Movie night - This is the obvious one you'll find on most lists, but when you find the right dinner and a movie, you cannot beat it.

  • Wine Tasting - This is another favourite of ours - great for when you want to chill out in the living room.

  • Grab some ice cream - One of our favourite things when spending time at Robyn's in Clapham is going on a dinner date and grabbing ice cream after.
